Wow - Praying Mantis!

Eco-Explorers hiked to Judge’s Cave, climbed the boulders, and explored the trails.

Ecology Campers enjoyed field trips each week.  They played on the playground and learned about pondlife at the Ansonia Nature Center and followed our waste stream and met trash-a-suarus at the Garbage Museum!

Every day starts with all the campers and staff gathering at the Outdoor Classroom for a spirited morning meeting.  Morning meeting is an important time for everyone to gather and have a sense of the whole camp as a community.  After attendance and announcements, staff take turns leading songs or activities to get the day off to a fun, energetic start!

Animal Adventures Camp and West Rock Rangers Camp enjoyed a visit from Riverside Reptiles, who brought a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, Emperor Scorpion, Mexican Red Knee Tarantula, Rococo Toad, Eastern Box Turtle, Black Rat Snake, and a Burmese Python for campers to learn about and meet.

Eco-Explorers campers conquered several West Rock Trails this week.  They had some fun at Amhryn Field, hiked to the Summit, and drew maps of the Old Oak Nature Trail!

Visiting the chickens is always a favorite activity.  We raise baby chickens each spring, who are “teenagers” in the summer - they are not full grown and do not lay eggs quite yet, but they like to fly up on top of the chicken coop and assert their independence!  All the attention from campers is great for having a well socialized flock of chickens!

Cooking Camp made blueberry pie and cheered each other on in a pie eating contest!

Frog pond continues to be a favorite place to explore and play.

Ecology Campers hike to the Summit of West Rock, make seed balls, hunt for bugs in the maze, and show some Blue Group pride!
